Remembering Steve McAnally: Three Months of Reflection and Legacy
Fredericksburg Farms
Today, June 26, marks 3 months exactly since I lost my husband, best friend, business partner, and soulmate. During this time my family and our Fredericksburg Farms family have been supported by friends, business associates, and complete strangers who have prayed for us, called us, sent cards and messages, made gifts to various charities and some have just said they were thinking of us and hoped we were doing ok. We are doing OK, business is going on, people have stepped up to do some things they may have not done before and guess what, we have learned to adapt...
Summer Plans
Fredericksburg Farms
School is out…summer plans are being made, and what seems like an endless stretch of vacation is on the horizon. That is, from a kid’s perspective, a source of optimistic plans of how to fill those days. Parents, on the other hand may be thinking otherwise. Thoughts of how to keep children entertained, productive, and safe as the lazy days of summer loom ahead occupy thoughts daily. Children today have lots of programmed activities that fill their summer hours. They may do any number of sports camps, art camps, church camps, and music camps that will fill their days while...
Father's Day
Fredericksburg Farms
Father’s Day is this Sunday, June 16. For all of the dads who work at Fredericksburg Farms we salute you and hope you feel loved and appreciated on your “special day.” Dads are the guys who will tell you the real reason you need to do your chore list first before going out with your friends…your mom holds the purse strings for allowances and it is never a bad idea to impress Mom. They also often let little things slide without calling you out for every wrongdoing, because they hope you will return the favor. My daddy gave me a...
June Weddings
Fredericksburg Farms
Are June weddings still a thing? In years past, June was the most popular month for weddings. The month was actually named for the goddess Juno, who is associated with fertility. In the Middle Ages bathing was not a regular activity and people may have bathed only a few times during the year. Peasants only bathed once a year in late spring when it was warm enough outside to get wet and not freeze one’s self. That made June a good time to be wed so that everyone smelled their best on the special day. Who knew, and all this...
Graduation Day
Fredericksburg Farms
It is the end of May, and across the country graduation ceremonies are being held to signify the completion of academic coursework whether it be high school or college. The ceremonies are predictable; graduates process in to the ceremony site, walking in accompanied by traditional music. It is a serious occasion and no wonder one of the usual music accompaniments is known as “Pomp and Circumstance.” After all of the speeches have been given, and the diplomas handed out, and the hats tossed into the air, thoughts may turn to, “Now, what?” Here at Fredericksburg Farms was are celebrating the...
