Chisholm Trail Beef Rub
The Texas cowboy of yesteryear rode long, hot, dusty hours on the trail when moving herds of cattle up the Chisholm Trail to market. When the day was finally done, they had a mighty hunger for some filling grub, but usually had to settle for beans, bread, and perhaps, a small critter such as a rabbit. To make this trail food more palatable, cowboys carried small tins of their favorite seasoning to give their food a little more flavor.
In the spirit of the Old West, Fredericksburg Farms Chisholm Trail Beef Rub uses brown sugar, onion, garlic, red pepper, chili pepper, and other spices to create the modern-day version of the old cowboy “trail rubs.” Add this rub to your brisket, roast, hamburger patties, or any cut of beef to get a flavor of the Old West.

Recipes
- Directions: Combine the desired amount of Chisholm Trail Beef Rub with just enough vegetable oil or olive oil to make a nice paste. Rub on beef brisket, roasts, short ribs, or hamburger patties, then refrigerate for an hour. Cook as desired. Top the finished product with one of our great Fredericksburg Farms sauces or glazes.
