After the vote passing the Declaration of Independence in 1776, John Adams wrote to his wife Abigail and said, "I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more."
Our Independence Day consists of attending the parade in downtown Fredericksburg, followed by a great meal, sometimes it is one we have cooked and other times prepared by one of the great restaurants in town. That night the city puts on a huge fireworks display at Lady Bird Park by the airport. Everybody flies the flag on their front porch. It's a great small town celebration. We put a few of our products in an Independence Day collection to help you celebrate! Make it a great day!
Below is a video that was posted of the parade a few years ago.
